Lighter slat in Berlin: DFB decides in favor of Bochum!
A lighter throw caused a scandal in the Bundesliga game between the 1. FC Union Berlin and VfL Bochum. The sports court of the German Football Association has now decided: The original 1: 1 is rated 2-0 in favor of Bochum. This decision was made in Frankfurt/Main on Thursday and is the result of an objection that Bochumer had lodged after the incident. If the goalkeeper Patrick Drewes is suspected of acting, there was no conspiracy to make out, explains sports court chairman Stephan Oberholz. "We did not get the corresponding clues for a special acting contribution from Mr. Drewes", as Union Berlin will decide after receipt of the written judgment of the judgment whether an appeal is filed - an objection to the decision remains officially possible, as reported in Krone
meaning of the scandal
The incident illustrates the challenges in the Bundesliga when it comes to the safety of players and the integrity of the game. Patrick Drewes, who was examined in the hospital with symptoms such as dizziness and nausea after the throw, reported that he had noticed hits. VfL Bochum welcomes the judgment and emphasizes that football becomes a loser when such incidents are done. Union Berlin, on the other hand, expresses legal concerns and is dissatisfied with the decision: "This judgment contradicts our legal opinion," said Christian Arbeit, Managing Director of Communication of the club, and makes it clear that they see no reason to re -evaluate the game.
