Euphoria in Berlin: Thousands celebrate the fall of Assad with cheers and flags!

Oranienplatz, 10999 Berlin, Deutschland - thousands of people celebrated the fall of Bashar al-Assad, the previous Syrian ruler in Berlin on Sunday. In Berlin-Kreuzberg alone, around 5,000 people gathered on Oranienplatz in the afternoon. The cheering masses waved Syrian flags, often with the printed "Free Syria" message. The exuberance of the celebrations included loud drums and the ignition of smaller firecrackers. A solidarity rally was originally planned with only 400 participants, which, however, quickly developed into a large pageant. Police spokesman reported a largely peaceful course of the event, while hundreds of police officers were in action to maintain order.

solemn mood throughout Germany

The euphoria was not limited to Berlin. In several cities in Germany, including Wuppertal, Bonn and Dortmund, a total of over 2,000 people gathered for similar celebrations. In Wuppertal, for example, more than 800 people came together, while at a rally in Bonn between 350 and 400 people chanted the slogan "liberation from the dictator from Syria". The police confirmed that the events were peaceful, although there were traffic disruptions from car corsos and hup concerts in some cities.

Syrian exile oppositions cheerfully expressed their hope of reconciliation and reconstruction. A refugee from Hanover said: "I forgive the person who has occupied my house since 2012." This message of forgiveness and hope for peace was underpinned by numerous videos from the liberation of prisoners that were shared on the Internet. These events mark a historical turning point for the Syrian people, which hears the change of power in their country with great relief, while many of them are eagerly pursuing the further developments, such as n-tv.de reported.

The Berlin Senator for Integration Cansel Kiziltepe was also pleased with the celebrations in which people celebrate freedom and democracy. She emphasized that it depends on how the situation in Syria will develop, and that the hope of a better future for the Syrians is now tangible, such as Tagespiegel.de reported.
