Dortmund's setback: Union Berlin beats BVB 2-1 in a drama game!
Borussia Dortmund experienced a surprising setback in the Bundesliga last weekend. After a rousing 7-1 victory in the Champions League against Celtic Glasgow, the black and yellow could not take the swing with them and lost the Bundesliga game against 1. FC Union Berlin 1: 2. This result means that Dortmund fell behind the capitals in the table.
Union Berlin, on the other hand, celebrated the third victory in the third home game and thus ensured Bo Svensson's first coaching success against Dortmund. For BVB it was already the third away game in this Bundesliga season, which they completed without a win.
Dortmund does not get through
The early game saw 22,012 spectators in the sold -out stadium on the old forestry, which was able to observe an unexpectedly offensive game by the hosts. Despite the stagnant offensive game of BVB, it was a big surprise that Dortmund could not penetrate a defensive that is considered the second best of the league.
Trainer Nuri Sahin sent almost the same team into the race as in the victory against Glasgow, only the injured Adeyemi was replaced by the newcomer Maximilian Beier. However, the Hoffenheimer remained largely inconspicuous, only two shots on goal in the second half testified to his commitment.
The game picked up in the first half when Kevin Vogt converted a penalty in the 26th minute - it was his first goal in the Bundesliga for ten years and thus replaced a particularly long goalless series of a field player. Shortly before half -time, Yorbe increased with a striking shot into the lower corner to 2-0 for Union.
Despite the deficit, Dortmund showed more attacking game in the second half after Union withdrawn on the defensive to manage the lead. However, the capital club could not build on the offensive impulses of the first half. Dortmunds Julian Rerson, who had previously played at Union himself, scored the connection goal in the 65th minute. His goal marked a return that the defender could not have wanted better.
An ex-Unioner meets for Dortmund
Although the BVB now found more loopholes in the Union defensive, the capitals of club did not remain entirely without a chance. Cutting and Tim Skarke could even have expanded the lead, but failed due to Dortmund's goalkeeper Kobel.
In the final phase, the guests took command, while Union hardly got a breath. The pressure from Dortmund grew, but the Unioner defense blocked out and managed the narrow lead to the final whistle.
This victory not only gives Union confidence, but also shows that they can fight for a place in the upper half of the table in the Bundesliga. In the meantime, the question arises again how Dortmund will exploit his potential in the further season to free himself from the current crisis.
