Large deployment in Neukölln: Police are looking for explosives suspects!
A dramatic incident shook Berlin-Neukölln when a man with explosives put the police on alert! On Wednesday evening, an explosive material that is presumably Tatp (Triacetontriperoxide) was discovered in a bag that the suspect left behind during his escape. Tatp is known for his use by militant groups and criminal networks. Half a kilo of this highly explosive substance was found in a bag, together with wires and a plastic bottle wrapped in cables.
The police stated that the man should be checked at the Neukölln S-Bahn station around 3:30 p.m., but he escaped through the tracks. The explosive find was blown up in a controlled manner in the “Thomashöhe” park, with the detonation to be heard several hundred meters. The environment was cordoned off far, and the police assured that there was no danger to residents. The rail traffic remained unaffected, while the investigation is in all directions, including the examination of a possible suspicion.
fleeting suspicious and possible terrorist risk
The search for the fleeting man is in full swing. According to reports, the suspect has lost an ID when fleeing, which is issued to a 30-year-old Poland who has been stolen since 2022. However, a so-called “super-recognizer” of the police has found that it may not be the Poles. The background of the incident is still unclear, but the police are examining all options. A civil servant expressed that it seemed as if an attack was prevented, which could have had catastrophic consequences if the explosive device had gone up near people.
The police union warns of the growing risk of terrorism at train stations and demands more staff and modern surveillance technologies. "We have to be wide awake at the smallest clue," said a spokesman. The investigation is underway, and the public remains on alert, while the police continue to examine the situation.
