CDU leads the survey in Rhineland-Palatinate: Merz popular as a candidate for chancellor!

Koblenz, Deutschland - The political landscape in Rhineland-Palatinate could soon change drastically: According to a current survey, the SWR was commissioned, the CDU could take the lead in a federal election next Sunday. The survey shows that the Christian Democrats could calculate 35 percent of the votes - a considerable increase compared to 24.7 percent in the last election in 2021. On the other hand, the SPD, led by Olaf Scholz, is only looking forward to a decline compared to the 29.4 percent of the previous choice.

Friedrich Merz sits through

The most important results are also that the CDU chairman Friedrich Merz is regarded by 38 percent of the Rhineland-Pfälzer eligible Chancellor candidate, as is the Zeit reported. Robert Habeck from the Greens and Alice Weidel from the AfD follow 32 and 25 percent, while Olaf Scholz only reaches 21 percent. These figures show a strong rethink of voters in Rhineland-Palatinate, especially after the traffic light coalition in Berlin.

The AfD is also above its result of 2021 (9.2 percent), while the Greens remain 12 percent. Asked about future coalitions, 33 percent of the Rhineland-Palatinate would like an alliance of the CDU and SPD. The political mood could continue to tip over in the coming months, since the people in Rhineland-Palatinate are increasingly being drawn to the CDU by the traditional parties, which further increases the pressure on the SPD.
