Bomb find in Krumpa: Evacuation and rail traffic set!
In the past few days, two bomb finds in Germany have caused great excitement and extensive evacuations. A world war bomb was discovered in the Saalekreis in Krumpa, which led to the immediate interruption of S-Bahn traffic and to evacuate the residents. The S-Bahn line 11 had been discontinued due to the danger situation since 7 a.m. An emergency shelter was set up in the St. Barbarahalle, while the defusing of the bomb is expected to take about two hours. In a press release, a spokeswoman said that the residents urgently should turn the gas taps off and close windows and doors to get to safety. People in need of care in particular who could not flee independently were picked up after prior registration. This is not the first bomb find in Krumpa; Already in July, two further world war bombs were discovered there as part of a long-lasting problem in the region, such as MDR reported.
Similar scenarios took place in Berlin, where a world war bomb was also discovered during construction work in Mecklenburgische Strasse. The police reacted immediately and put an evacuation into force that affected several apartment blocks. Around 6,700 people had to leave their apartments estimated. In addition to the residents, numerous rescue workers, including 300 police officers and Maltese employees, were also deployed. Due to the bombing, several streets were blocked, and traffic in the restricted area, including the S-Bahn lines, was temporarily interrupted. The first evacuation measures had already started at 10 a.m. on the morning of April 2, and the police led the streets through the streets with loudspeaker announcements to move people to cooperation. The whole thing was accompanied by the transport information center, which communicated the changes in local public transport, as reported by Berlin Live
Such bombing finds are not unusual in Germany, especially in cities with intensive war past. In Berlin alone, blind passers are repeatedly reported, who are discovered during construction work and often result in complex evacuation and defusing. These incidents not only require fast and efficient measures by the police and fire brigade, but also a close communication with the residents to ensure the safety of all those affected.
