Construction work in Berlin: subway passengers have to prepare for restrictions!
The subway in Berlin is an indispensable part of everyday transport for many people. However, from Sunday, January 5th, the use of subway line 2 will change significantly. Loud Berlin Live The Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz stop will remain closed between 10:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. until March 21, 2025. The reason for this restriction is extensive construction work between the Alexanderplatz and Senefelderplatz stations.
On the nights from Sunday to Thursday, no subway will stop at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz subway station. BVG replacement buses have been set up to transport passengers during the closing times. However, on weekends, especially Friday and Saturday, trains can run through as usual, as construction work is suspended on these days.
Further restrictions on the subway network
The construction work in Berlin also has an impact on other subway lines. As the Berlin newspaper Reportedly, lines U1, U3, U6, U7 and U8 are also affected. Tunnel renovations will take place on the U1 line from January 3rd to April 26th, 2025, which will result in changes to train traffic. The U3 subway line only runs between Krumme Lanke and Gleisdreieck.
Construction work has been underway on the U6 since November 2022 and is expected to last until 2025. The U8 line also has restrictions due to platform work that has been carried out since November 2023. This work is also causing disruptions to the traffic flow on the Berlin subway and passengers are asked to inform themselves accordingly.
