Traffic light coalition breaks: Germany ticket in danger!
The traffic light coalition is history, and with its decay, the Germany ticket threatens to get in danger! Minister of Transport from several federal states raises the alarm: Without a quick change in the law, the popular 49 euro ticket could soon become significantly more expensive. The ministers from Baden-Württemberg and Lower Saxony urgently demand that the Bundestag adapts the regulations for the use of unused funds to secure the future of the ticket.
The North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Transport calms down that the ticket is not affected for the time being, but the Baden-Württemberg Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann warns: "Uncharged money must be transferred to the next year, otherwise there is a risk of a price increase!" The uncertainty about the financing from 2026 lets the alarm bells ring. A spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Transport emphasizes that the agreement continues to apply until 2025, but there are no concrete commitments for the years afterwards!
Social Association: Social projects are first suffering
Lower Saxony's Transport Minister Olaf Lies warns: "The D-Ticket must not fall victim to uncertainty in the federal government!" The CEO of the Social Association of Germany, Michaela Engelmeier, demands that the price remain stable, since many people have already been deterred by the last price increase. "Politicians have to act before social projects falter!"
The impending blockade by the Union faction could seal the fate of the Germany ticket. The parliamentary managing director Thorsten Frei refuses all support for red-green initiatives and instead demands investments in the infrastructure. In the meantime, the green parliamentary group leader Katharina Dröge appeals to the Union of making a joint decision in order not to endanger the financing of the federal states. A race against time has started!
