Traffic light crisis: politicians from Friesland are calling for quick new elections!
The political landscape in Germany wobbles huge! The government crisis in Berlin excited the minds in Friesland and Wilhelmshaven. While the news about the sudden end of the traffic light coalition reach like a running fire, the regional politicians are concerned, but also hopeful. The question of a new government is in the room and the voices are getting louder!
Friesland's district administrator Sven Ambrosy (SPD) is disappointed with the failure of the traffic light: "It is a shame that the collaboration did not work. The dispute dominated and communication was poor." He urges the CDU to form an alliance of national reason in order to use the time until new elections. Wilhelmshaven's mayor Carsten Feist (non -party) also sees the chance of political stability in a early election. "The municipalities need clear framework conditions from Berlin," he emphasizes and names the energy transition as one of the decisive areas that requires immediate attention.
political reactions
The mayors' reactions are consistently clear: it has to be traded quickly! Stephan Eiklenborg, Mayor of Sande, is not surprised at the traffic lights, but sees the verbal attacks between Scholz and Lindner as unexpectedly violent. "We need a government capable of acting," he demands. After the first shock, Mario Szlezak (SPD) from Wangerland is convinced that new elections are necessary to establish a functioning government. Rieka Beewen, deputy on Wangerooge, on the other hand, is skeptical whether the right time for new elections is, while Jever's Mayor Jan Edo Albers describes the Situation as "unhappy" and demands stability for the citizens.
The economy is also alarmed! The employer and business association Jade (AWV) urges a quick vote of no confidence. "The uncertainty should no longer stop," explains AWV general manager Henning Wessels. Companies need clarity to remain capable of acting in this tense time. Josef Thomann, head of the Wilhelmshaven energy supplier GEW, calls for a reliable energy policy and criticizes the previous decisions as too hesitant. "We need confidence in the economy, not microragement," said Thomann. The clock ticks and the region is waiting in a clear political direction!
