The youngest organist in Upper Bavaria inspires Christmas in the Wieskirche at Christmas
On December 22, 2024, the focus is on preparations for the Christmas celebrations in the churches of Upper Bavaria and Schifferstadt. In the Wieskirche, one of the most famous churches in the Pfaffenwinkel, Erik Konietzko, the youngest organist in Upper Bavaria, will play the organ for the first time on Christmas Eve. The 26-year-old, who studied music in Würzburg, describes his role as a "logistical challenge" because he not only accompanies the Christmas mass musically at midnight in the Wieskirche, but also leads the children's and youth choir in the neighboring town of Steingaden before he himself is responsible for the liturgy of Christmas. He is accompanied by his appearances by flutist Laura Schmid and a harpist, while studying baroque music, in particular by Mozart, such as parrrei-schifferstadt.de .
On the first Christmas day, the Schola Cantorum will design the Christmas Vesper, before the musical highlight with the orchestra mass on the second holiday, December 26, will follow, at which the famous "coronation fair" by W. A. Mozart will be heard. Assumed with talented soloists and a chamber orchestra, this concert promises a festive crowning glory of the Christmas celebrations in the community.
