Weilheim-Schongau becomes MVV partner: cheaper driving prices from 2025!

A new traffic age is on the district of Weilheim-Schongau! On January 1, 2025, the district officially became part of the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV). MVV managing director Dr. Bernd Rosenbusch and District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß the decisive network partner contracts. "We also create an attractive public transport for the district of Weilheim-Schongau and the other MVV network partners. This leads to the changeover and thus relieve the streets, municipalities, cities and the environment," said Dr. Rosenbusch enthusiastic.

The preparations for this step are in full swing. The traffic and economic meaning of a composite integration was already checked in 2018. In the first wave, the districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Miesbach, Rosenheim and the city of Rosenheim were already included in the MVV. Now follows the second wave, which, in addition to Weilheim, also includes the cities of Weilheim, Schongau and Penzberg as well as the district of Landsberg. A possible accession of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district could follow in a third wave.

revolutionary tariff changes for passengers

What does that mean for passengers? A real revolution! The kilometer -based tariff belongs to the past - instead the area is divided into zones. This has a massive impact on the price structure: a trip from Weilheimer Bahnhof to Tutzing will only cost 2.00 euros instead of 5.80 euros! And for a return trip from Weilheim to Munich Marienplatz, you will only pay 17.60 euros instead of 26.00 euros. There are also new ticket names and models, and the bus lines receive fresh numbers.

District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß is optimistic: "For us, joining the MVV is a big step for mobility in the district-this is a profit for all of us. The new tariff system makes the trips much cheaper beyond the district boundaries." The citizens of the district can look forward to a uniform system that simplifies the use of app and analog tickets. Further information is available at www.mvv-muenchen.de/will.
