MVV expansion: from 2025 with just one ticket to Munich and Rosenheim!

A new age for the district of Weilheim-Schongau is attacking! From January 1, 2025, the district will be part of the large MVV family, and that means: a ticket for the entire region! District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß and Dr. Bernd Rosenbusch, Managing Director of MVV GmbH, signed the contracts this week that seal the connection to the Munich Transport Area. "Now we can easily get in here with just one ticket," cheered Jochner-Weiß.

The new regulations bring a variety of advantages. From Schongau to the airport, from Weilheim to Landsberg and from Peißenberg to Rosenheim - everything will be possible with a single ticket! In the future, MVV will organize entire public transport in one of the largest composite areas of southern Germany. With over 800 million passengers annually and more than two million trips a day, the MVV becomes an indispensable partner for commuters and travelers. "More is only driven in Berlin," said Rosenbusch.

simple ticket purchase and new technologies

Ticket prices are cheaper and the purchase will be easier! From December, the MVV app will be introduced, which enables users to simply select the start and finish and find the best ticket. In addition, the new MVVSwipe system is introduced, which revolutionizes the start and out of the bus and train. "Just check in when you get in and check out when you get out," explains Rosenbusch. The system automatically recognizes which ticket is cheapest and ensures that nobody is overwhelmed by the tariff structure.

The sovereignty over the public transport connections remains in the hands of the counties, which means that local decisions will continue to be made on site. The classic strip card and devalued are also retained in order to meet all passengers. "Nobody can be disadvantaged," emphasizes Jochner-Weiß. With special tariff offers for children, seniors and needy citizens, the MVV also fulfills socially.
