An exciting exchange project in the St. Michael Center retirement home in Weiden brings generations together! Under the title "Generations: Seniors and children discover the digital world with Antolin together, the" Kommunal.digital.Genial "initiative recently started. In cooperation with the Maria-Seltmann-Haus, the Hans-Sauer primary school, and the St. Michael Center, the senior citizens' department of the city of Weiden and committed partners launched an innovative program.

Ten curious third graders of the Hans-Sauer primary school actively attended the older residents of the nursing home, equipped with colorful books and modern tablets. The mission? To make it easier for seniors to access the digital world and to strengthen the children's ability to read! These small “digital mentors” playfully explain the basics of digital media and how to use a tablet effectively - a brilliant opportunity for both sides!

interactive exchange promotes social skills

After reading together, there are exciting quiz questions on the program that the children answer digitally via the Antolin platform. A captivating intergenerational exchange that not only conveys knowledge, but also promotes the respectful handling of children with the elderly. The goal of this valuable initiative? A gradual extension to other retirement homes in the region, so that many more can benefit from this sensible connection.

"Kommunal.digital.Genial" was launched by the Federal Working Group of Senior Corporation and the Federal Ministry of Family, Seniors, Women and Youth. If you want to know more, you can find more information at www.digitalpakt-alter.de .
