100 years of AMC: Festive excursion to Weiden am See enthusiastic!

The car and motorcycle club (AMC) in the ADAC duly celebrated its 100th anniversary with an impressive four-day trip to Weiden am See. This festive event took place last weekend and not only included visits, but also exclusive culinary experiences. The aim was to emphasize the deeply rooted friendship with the godfather city and to enable the participants a variety of cultural impressions.

The trip began with a stopover in Melk, a picturesque city on the Danube, known for the imposing Melk Abbey, which was built in the 11th century. The organizers, Adolf Baumann and Kurt Koreis, had prepared delicious snacks for the tour group. Afterwards we continued in minibuses and private vehicles to the hotel “Pasler” at the destination, Weiden am See.

When arriving in Weiden, the guests from the Upper Palatinate were warmly welcomed by Mayor Heinrich Hareter. He emphasized the partnership between the two cities, which has been over 50 years, which is characterized by regular visits and a lively cultural exchange. The AMC chairman, Karlheinz Ach, commented on the longstanding friendship and the importance of this mutual visits. The first evening of the celebrations found a cozy end with a social dinner in the “Buschenschenke Guttmann”.

The participants were enthusiastic about the city's hospitality, and the atmosphere was shaped by joy and connection. The events, which are supplemented by wine tastings and citizens' festivals, continue to strengthen the bond between the two regions.

Another highlight of the excursion was to visit Bratislava, where a tour to the imposing castle of Bratislava was on the program. After exploring the Slovak capital, we continued to Vienna. There the members had the opportunity to enjoy the historical cityscape, including the majestic St. Stephen's Cathedral and the famous Naschmarkt. A special pleasure was the stay in a traditional Viennese café, where the participants could cost the world -famous Sachertorte - a real piece of Viennese culture.

The excursion was not only shaped by experiences, but also by the possibility of recognizing cultural differences and similarities. Such excursions are a wonderful opportunity for the members, not only their own city, but also neighboring countries and their traditions.

The crowning glory of the trip was a feast in the Preschitz winery in Neusiedl am See, where a delicious suckling pig meal was served. The host proudly introduced the guests to the guests from the surrounding area. Such culinary experiences contribute to identification with the region and its products.

The last evening did not miss the tour group and enjoyed an exclusive wine tasting in the “Pasler” hotel, in which natural wines from organic, sustainable cultivation were presented. This meeting was not only a celebration of the anniversary, but also a sign of the committed coexistence of the members of the AMC.
