Unknown about HPV: Dangerous virus threatens our health!
The human papillomavirus (HPV) is a widespread, but often misunderstood virus that affects both men and women. Dr. Michael Schrauder, chief physician of the women's clinic at the Aschaffenburg-Alzenau Clinic, warns of the widespread ignorance of HPV and its dangers. Every year, around 6,250 women and 1,600 men fall ill in Germany on HPV-related cancer. Despite the alarming numbers, the topic remains taboo in public. Many people do not know that the transmission is carried out by sexual intercourse and that early vaccination between the ages of 9 and 14 can have a particularly protective effect. According to a survey in the region, many citizens were unsuspecting about the risks and the importance of the HPV vaccination, which is considered a preventive measure.

A vaccination campaign is urgently needed, because the current vaccination rates are worrying: only 54 percent of girls and 27 percent of boys in Germany are vaccinated.
