Sturm Graz: Master Jauk plans upheaval after heartbeat final!

Sturm Graz, Österreich - After an exciting season, the President of Sturm Graz, Christian Jauk, recently spoke about the current situation of the association. In a conversation with OE24, he reported on the recovery after the championship and described the last game against the WAC as particularly nerve -wracking. Despite the challenges of defending the title with losses of key players, Jauk described this as a "little miracle". In a very positive mood, he showed himself optimistic and believed in the chances of his team until the last second.

A special focus is now on the team structure. Jauk showed that a conversion of the team was imminent and the sporting management is already working on a concept. He emphasized the need to adapt to a squad -break and made it clear that Sturm Graz installed many players from the second team who could play a larger role in the new season. "We are ready to pay high master premiums that are attractive to the players," continued Jauk.

The challenges of title defense

The ability to stay at the top will be a challenge for Sturm Graz. Jauk pointed out that team boss Ralf Rangnick has nominated no players from Sturm Graz for the World Cup qualification, which was due to the dominance of players from larger leagues. Nevertheless, he expressed the desire that Sturm players in the A team get a chance. In addition, Jauk spoke about his loyalty to Sturm Graz and vaguely stayed as a possible chairmanship of the supervisory board in the ÖFB.

The master team recently celebrated the title in front of the stadium. Coach Jürgen Säumel, who won the title as a Bundesliga novice, was proud of his team. Managing Director of Sport and Business emphasize the "planning security" for the association, which means a better negotiation position on the transfer market. Sports director Michael Parensen highlighted the unity of the team as a decisive success factor.

Overview of transfers and potential departures

For the coming season, Parensen is already planning transfers. Rumors about departures make the round: Captain Stefan Hierländer, who would like to stay, faces an uncertain future. Lipped players like Kjell Scherpen and Malick Yalcouyé are initially returning to Brighton & Hove Albion, while Scherpen expressed the wish to stay in Graz. Jon Gorenc Stankovic also sparked the interest of other clubs, and William Böving is also discussed.

  • reinforcements on the transfer market: According to Fabrizio Romano, Sturm will hire 19-year-old offensive player Axel Kayombo for around two million euros from FC Basel.
  • The promotion chances in the Champions League: Sturm Graz will be on 19/20. August in the play-off to the Champions League, while the Europa League is already fixed.

The transfer period in global professional football is dynamic and brings numerous events. While only a few clubs are able to pay three -digit million amounts for transfers, the sport remains in motion. The Bundesliga also has success and challenges due to high transfer fees and market changes, especially through clubs like Bayern Munich, which were traveling in the league in 2024/2025.

Jauk concluded that the stadium question must be clarified primarily in order to be able to offer fans a better experience. A visit to the UEFA in June should help discuss the situation around the Mercury Arena and future use.
