Tragic accident on B20: 79-year-old dies, 72-year-old seriously injured

Straubing, Deutschland - A tragic accident shook the B20 near Straubing on Friday morning. At 10:10 a.m. there was a devastating collision between the Straubing/Hafen and Straubing/East trips, which cost a 79-year-old man. A 72-year-old woman from the Straubing-Bogen district lost control of her vehicle for unexplained reasons, got on the oncoming lane and crashed into an approaching truck with full force.

The crashed driver and her passenger, who was seriously injured, were trapped in her car. Firefighters worked tirelessly to free them from the wreck. The emergency services brought them to the Straubing Clinic, where the man unfortunately succumbed to his serious injuries. The 72-year-old driver continues to fight for her life, while the 42-year-old truck driver bought slight injuries and was also transported to the hospital for medical care.

In close cooperation with the public prosecutor, an expert was consulted to clarify the exact course of the terrible event. Due to the recovery and cleaning work, the federal road B20 remained completely closed until around 1:30 p.m., which significantly impaired the traffic situation. The public prosecutor took the Ernst case and the investigation is in full swing to determine the causes of this tragic accident.
