Police in Lower Bavaria: Four burglars caught in school robberies!

Lower Bavaria is currently in the headlines, because since the beginning of 2024 there has been an alarming series of more than 40 burglaries. Schools, kindergartens as well as shops and shell buildings were particularly affected. After intensive investigations, the police have now been able to determine four suspects who have to answer for these acts, as was announced on Wednesday.

The police inspections of Dingolfing, Plattling and Landau as well as the Straubing criminal police inspection worked closely with the Landshut and Deggendorf public prosecutors. This joint effort led to the arrest of four suspects, and it is noteworthy that this is already the second investigation. In September, the police announced that they had identified five members of a gang of thieves who were also responsible for numerous break-ins in the Straubing-Bogen and Deggendorf districts.

crime focus: burglaries in public institutions

From January to April of this year, the authorities reported over 40 burglaries in the districts of Dingolfing-Landau, Deggendorf and Straubing-Bogen. These were mostly public institutions such as schools and kindergartens, but also private shops and parked vehicles. It was alarming that the damage caused by property often exceeded the value of the stolen objects many times over. Those affected have to deal with considerable losses, because in addition to valuable electrical appliances, cash was regularly stolen.

In April, the district highly belly chief Günther Christl was visibly affected in a meeting when he spoke about the numerous break-ins. He meticulously reported on the various incidents that left damage to the educational institutions and raised many questions about the safety of these facilities.

In the course of the investigation, the focus focused on two main suspects: a 33-year-old and a 22-year-old man from the Dingolfing-Landau district. These two are suspected of being the main perpetrators of the series of burglary.

In the course of the investigation, search resolutions for the apartments of the suspects were already obtained at the end of April. The searches led to the finding of a remarkable amount of stolen goods, which could partly be assigned to the crime scenes. These results show how closely networked the deeds examined are actually.

additional suspicious and important evidence

During the further investigation, the focus was also on two other young men from the Landau area, both 20 years old. They are also suspected of being involved in the burglaries. The apartments of these accomplices were also searched, and several evidence could be ensured, including laptops and tablets that had been stolen from an educational institution.

The police informed that the 33-year-old main perpetrator is in custody due to other ongoing procedures. The other suspects were released after the police measures have been completed. Now these men have to answer in court and face the consequences of their actions. These developments illustrate the police's determination to act against burglary crime in the region.
