ZF Schweinfurt: 650 jobs threatened - employees protest!

Changes for the Schweinfurt workforce! At ZF Friedrichshafen there is a shocking change into the house! The clients are dissatisfied - their books show a bitter trend and the production capacities urgently need to be adapted down. The management shrills the alarm: "We have to react quickly!"

The need is clear: the car supplier wants to delete up to 14,000 jobs nationwide! In Schweinfurt, where around 9,800 workers are employed, this means drastic measures. The site manager Manfred Süß emphasizes that the transformation process towards electromobility and the weak economic situation lead to a significant decline in orders. This has an immediate effect on employment!

working hours are reduced - massive cuts are threatened!

The ZF leadership speaks plain text: "We have to massively reduce the personnel capacities!" Especially in production, the capacities are currently 10 % too high - that is about 650 full -time equivalents who have to say goodbye to the scene.

In order to correct this imbalance, the company plans to significantly reduce the working hours of the employees. Planned measures include the expiry of temporary contracts and the introduction of partial retirement regulations, but also the feared reduction in working hours. It is already being negotiated with the works council to implement these changes as soon as possible, with the hope of a "quick improvement in results".

In the shadow of these developments, the Nuremberg competitor Leoni also announces a massive job cut - 4,500 jobs are on the brink here! Will the automotive industry be put to the test again? The coming months promise anything but to become quiet!
