Schweinfurt in turmoil: 700 jobs at Schaeffler in danger!
In a dramatic meeting, over 3,500 employees from eight companies in Schweinfurt gathered on Wednesday to protest against the alarming job cuts of the Schaeffler Group. Jürgen Schenk, Schaeffler's works council chairwoman, gave his resentment free: "Now we finally have our shit in the steam in Schweinfurt." The workforce had put into turmoil from the shock message from the CEO Klaus Rosenfeld, who announced a reduction of 4700 jobs in Europe by the end of 2027. The effects in this country are also noticeable - in Schweinfurt there is a risk of loss of up to 700 jobs!
The crisis of the Lower Franconian industry
The situation is not only tense with Schaeffler. Thomas Höhn, the first representative of IG Metall Schweinfurt, warned of the dramatic situation: "We are now talking about over 3000 jobs that could be lost over the next three years." Other large companies such as ZF and SKF are also on the brink and plan massive cuts. Bosch Rexroth has already announced in Augsfeld to dismantle 130 jobs, while Peh and Valeo in Bad Neustadt are also affected by similar problems.
IG Metall demands a whopping seven percent more wages for employees in the current tariff round. Nadine Boguslawski, the collective attendant, made it unequivocally clear that employers have to make better offers: "stop complaining!". If there is no sustainable result next Monday in the tariff round, IG Metall is already preparing 24-hour strikes. The mood is tense and the future of the employees is on the brink! The employees are determined to fight for their rights and cannot be intimidated!
