Rosenheim rediscover: AR brings history and art directly to you!

The city of Rosenheim takes an innovative step into the future by integrating augmented reality (AR) into its city tours. With this technology it is possible to experience Rosenheim in a whole new way. Now visitors can immerse yourself in the virtual world in four specially selected locations with a smartphone or tablet and internet access without having to cope with physical obstacles.

The introduction of AR experiences enables, for example, to virtually rebuild the historical Inntor, which was destroyed about 160 years ago. Users can experience both the miniature version and a life -size representation of the gate at Ludwigsplatz. For an all -round view of the city, users do not even have to climb the stairs to the Church of Sankt Nikolaus, since every experience is conveniently accessible via the "Yona" app.

interactive experiences and artistic projects

In addition to the historical views, the transit art project by the artist Mister Woodland can be experienced in the AR world of the Esbaumviertel. His avatar explains the background of his work to visitors and thus creates a deeper connection to art. The Rosenheim Cops also gather for a photo together at the town hall, which underlines the connection between art, history and everyday life in the city.

The app simply leads the users to the different AR locations. Users can start the tours by scanning a flyer or through QR codes at the corresponding places. The opportunity to explore the city in an interactive way gives both locals and tourists the opportunity to get to know Rosenheim from completely new perspectives.

"The AR experiences are an exciting addition to the traditional city tours. They enable everyone to rediscover Rosenheim from different perspectives," explains Judith Gebhart de Ginsberg from the city marketing. In addition, she plans to expand the offer in order to continue to integrate other topics such as "Experience history" and "city views". An important advantage of these virtual experiences is the increased accessibility that enables more people to take part in city tours.

Rosenheim shows with this step how modern technology can be used to preserve the cultural heritage and at the same time make it accessible to everyone. Whether by restoring historical buildings or through the creative presentation of art - AR offers the city and its visitors promising opportunities.
