from the barracks to the residential complex
The city of Regensburg has ambitious plans as part of the “Social City” project to convert the former barracks into living residential areas. Not only should new living space be created, but also leisure and sports facilities. One example is the conversion of the former riding hall into new apartments. This project is complemented by the creation of sporty infrastructures such as a new athletics hall and a teaching swimming pool, as reported on Regensburg.de With this transformation, Regensburg encounters the steadily growing lack of living space, which is particularly noticeable in a city with so many students and young families. The former barracks are no longer just historical relics, but stand for a dynamic change towards an attractive habitat that meets modern requirements. The Kasernenviertel is therefore presented as a place that matters the past and future.
