HSG Weiden fights bravely, but 20 ball losses cost the victory!
Weiden, Deutschland - pasture. A bitter evening for the women of HSG Weiden! Despite a promising start and a solid first half, the game against SG Regensburg ended with a painful 27:35 defeat.
The HSG Weiden started strongly and led 9: 5 in the 14th minute. But the joy did not last long, because the Regensburg women countered at lightning speed and equalized in the 17th minute to 9: 9. Coach Niklas Deml was dissatisfied with the performance of his girls: "The first half is mainly a shame because we had the game well under control overall and the SG did little in the position attack." Despite a solid defense and well -played chances, the Weidener gave too many balls in attack, which the SG could convert into pace kicks. With a short gap of 15:16 it went into the half -time break.
litter quota and ball losses as decisive factors
The second half brought no turn for the HSG. With a total of 20 ball losses and a throw rate of just under 50 percent, a point win was not possible. "We have made many free chances possible, but we unfortunately couldn't use," said Deml after the game. Despite his changes in defense and in the attack 20 minutes before the end, when the deficit was 19:23, the hoped -for success failed. The defeat was ultimately deserved and painful for the Weidener women.
But the trainer remains optimistic: "Overall, it fits very well. Our task is now to transform our own options more effectively." The next challenge is waiting for HSG Weiden next Sunday when the unbeaten league leader SG Frankenpower guest in the Weidener Sophie-Scholl-Halle. Another test for the team that now has to focus on their strengths.
