Nuremberg receives 24 million for new bridge and road expansion!
In a significant investment measure, Bavarian Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter announced that the Free State of Bavaria will provide over 24 million euros to renew the bridge structure over the Main-Donau Canal and the southwestern tangent in Nuremberg. This sum is part of a total investment of around 132 million euros, which will benefit the city of Nuremberg. The measure is considered infrastructure important for Nuremberg and the entire region, since it is an essential connection in the transport network.
The Franconian Schnellweg, also known as district road N 4, is an important traffic artery that connects the Nuremberg port with the districts of Eibach, Maiach and Reichelsdorf. Around 28,000 vehicles use this building every day. Since the bridge is in poor condition, it is replaced by a new building that should meet the future requirements of road traffic and shipping.
Details on the new building
The new bridge structure is built at the site of the existing and comprises two separate superstructures with a total range of 320 meters. As part of the project, the N 4 in the range of approx. 250 m south to 860 m north of the Main-Donau Canal is constructed. In addition, there are renovations of three ramps that connect the N 4 to the southwestern tangent. This includes the dismantling and new construction of the Rampe West in an almost existing location and the renewal of the Ramps East and Northeast with a changed course.
The construction period for the entire project is estimated for four years and construction work has already started. Traffic relocations in the urban road network can be expected during the construction work. In addition, the project 37 road sections will temporarily experience an increase in traffic, and in 25 street sections the threshold values for noise emissions could be exceeded. A compensation for nature conservation law is planned, approx. 3 km away on Wiener Strasse, on an eco -account area of the city of Nuremberg.
The Free State of Bavaria provides about 250 million euros annually for projects to improve the road networks, which supports the long -term planning and financing of infrastructure projects in the region.
