Neu-Ulm's mountain rescue service: heroes in use between the Alps!
Neu-Ulm's mountain rescue service: heroes in use between the Alps!
The mountain rescue guard Neu-Ulm, which has existed for 89 years, is a prominent part of the Bavarian Red Cross. Their main task is to support the mountain rescue colleagues in Oberstdorf, where the rescue operations are numerous in both summer and winter. Although the mountains in the Ulm/Neu-Ulm region are not very high and offer relatively little danger, the mountain rescue service is still active and committed.
Regular training measures take place in Neu-Ulm as long as the Iller does not step over the banks. In summer, the mountain rescue guard Neu-Ulm, together with the Oberstdorf mountain rescue service, runs the mountain rescue service in the municipality of Oberstdorf. During the winter months, the mountain rescue on the slopes of Oberstdorf, Unterjoch and Schwärzenlifts is in action. The mountain rescue service also provides support for large damage situations in the Neu-Ulm district and can even carry out Bavaria-wide operations in the event of a disaster.
