Digital revolution at Ulm Central Station: 30 scoreboards for travelers!
Neu-Ulm, Deutschland - The Stadtwerke Ulm/Neu-Ulm (SWU) announced an improvement in the digital passenger information at Ulm Central Station. By spring 2025, 24 new digital scoreboards are to be put into operation, which are installed at various locations around the train station. This affects the Bahnhofssteg, the southern Bahnhofsplatz and the central Omnibusbahnhof (ZOB). A total of 30 scoreboards are then operated at the main train station.
The costs for the new facilities amount to around 600,000 euros, which are supported by federal and state funding. Currently, new TFT-Anzeiger and reviewers have been in the test operation since December 12, 2024. This test phase is intended to optimize the systems and ensure that the indicator provides uniform information in real time for descents and connections of trains, trams, city buses and regional buses. Eight two meters wide scanning boards at the Bahnhofsteg are particularly intended to inform travelers about train connections.

The overview gazette on the stairs indicate the entrance journeys and connections, while monitors provide information about the next descents on the platforms over the stairs. At the ZOB there is currently an overview gathering in operation; In the spring of 2025, further indicators are to follow every bus dough. The barrier -free design of the systems attaches particular importance to high contrasts for good readability. In addition, the indicators on the ZOB and on the station place have a reading function that benefits visually impaired people.
