Marlene's way back to life: a fight against combustion!

A terrible accident took its course when the 15 -month -old Marlene accidentally came into contact with hot tea. Her mother, Julia, quickly wanted to pour a mug tea when the misfortune happened: Marlene grabbed the mug, and the hot water poured over her body. Julia remembers: "I have never heard of Marlene." This happened almost four years ago. Today Julia and six-year-old Marlene are sitting in the Munich-Schwabing Clinic for follow-up with the combustion specialist Dr. Carsten Krohn. The girl survived the first fright and the ordeal, but the way to heal was rocky, as she and her mother report.

After the accident, Julia immediately ran to the water dispenser at the campsite with Marlene, since the girl's skin was already terribly red and partially replaced. An ambulance was called immediately, but this was a long time coming. Finally, Marlene was flown to the hospital in Barcelona with a rescue helicopter while her parents had to drive after. There, the doctors confirmed that Marlene had to deal with second and third degrees with burns. In the University Clinic Barcelona, they initially tried to treat the wounds with daily “wet” changes of association, but finally the parents' decision would be current: Back to Munich. "After an intervention on the skin transplant, that would have been unthinkable," explains Julia (see also Poly **** ICs.com).

successful treatment in Munich

After her return to Munich, the intensive treatment began. In the Schwabinger Clinic, Marlene was treated with a special skin replacement, which finally made it possible for her to heal rapidly. After only eight days in the Munich hospital, the girl was released home. The treating doctor, Dr. Krohn, is enthusiastic about the success of the healing: "For the type of injury, this is a fantastic result." Thanks to the great treatment, Marlene can live a normal life, despite the skin that will always have a certain difference.

The experiences of the past few years have shaped both Julia and Marlene. Julia reports on her feelings of guilt and the emotional burden associated with the accident. The family is all the more pleased about Marlene's progress, which is now proudly looking back on their adventures. Despite the tribulation, the incident has taught them to hold them together and to be able to accept the support of experts.
