MVV expansion: From 2025, 320 municipalities benefit from new connections!

A big step for mobility in Bavaria! From January 1, 2025, the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV) will be expanded to include the Landsberg districts on Lech and Weilheim-Schongau. This means that the population in these regions can benefit from the comprehensive MVV offers in these regions. With around 260,000 new inhabitants, the MVV area grows to an impressive 3.7 million people-almost every third in Bavaria will then live in the MVV area!

new communities and connections

The expansion not only brings more residents, but also a large number of new communities: around 320 municipalities become part of the MVV, and the area of the bond is increasing to around 10,365 km²! A total of 57 new municipalities from the Landsberg Am Lech and Weilheim-Schongau districts are added, while municipalities from the Augsburg and Aichach-Friedberg counties will also benefit. The new connections include twenty new train stations and about fifty bus lines, including the popular Ammersee and Pfaffenwinkelbahn.

The preparations are in full swing! From January 1, 2025, bus drivers will sell MVV tickets in the new composite counties. To ensure that everything works smoothly, the transport companies are currently trained and their systems are adapted. The hardware is also upgraded so that passengers can easily use the new ticket options. A recommendation to all passengers: The MVV app is the fastest way to buy tickets and find the best offers!
