Landsberg am Lech: Memorial for the Memorial Day on November 17th!
On Sunday, November 17, 2024, the city of Landsberg am Lech will commemorate the victims of war and tyranny in a moving ceremony. The celebrations begin at 10:45 a.m. in front of the impressive backdrop of the Katharinenkirche and the warrior chapel in Katharinenstrasse. The event is accompanied by the Stadtkapelle Landsberg, which will enrich the atmosphere with solemn sounds.
Before the commemoration, a service takes place in the Katharinenkirche at 10:00 a.m., followed by another service in the Evangelical Christ Church at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Thomas Lichteneber will lead the commemoration, which culminates with the resignation of wreaths in the war. The Bundeswehr and the Landsberg volunteer fire brigade will take part in the ceremony, and the city's traditional associations are also invited to show presence with flags. The members of the displaced associations as well as the soldier and warrior associations are particularly warm. All citizens, especially the young people, are called to participate in this important commemoration.
traffic measures and security
Because of the memorial event, Katharinenstraße will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to Von-Kühlmann-Straße and the traffic is diverted. However, access to the train station remains free. After the end of the celebrations around 11:30 a.m., the closure will be lifted again. The road users are urgently asked to observe the closures in order to ensure the safety of visitors and the assembly and dismantling staff. Pedestrians should respect and not cross the barriers during the celebrations, especially during prayer and the national anthem.
