Tooth gaps as a trademark: ice hockey professional Pietta in an interview!
Ingolstadt, Deutschland - Daniel Pietta, the 37-year-old ice hockey star of Ingolstadt Panther, has a very special attitude to his tooth gaps. "I used to be scared when I looked in the mirror," admits the striker. "But now I see it differently. It is simply part of a real ice hockey player not to have all your teeth anymore." Despite his lost teeth, which he lost in a long career path, Pietta remains optimistic and relaxed. "My wife doesn't complain either, so everything is okay."
The first tooth fell victim to a violent racker attack in 2006, the second was torn down by a puck during a training session. "The gaps are now my trademark," says Pietta with a smile. While many of his colleagues wear provisional dentures, Pietta has decided to do without them. "There are only new teeth after my career - if I ideally realized my dream and became a master," he explains. If the professional association does not pay, he could rethink his decision.
Pietta: Ice hockey legend with great goals
With 740 points, Pietta is the fourth best scorer in the history of the DEL and played 115 games for the national team. After 20 years in Krefeld, he dared to move to Ingolstadt in 2020, where he now feels at home. "I never thought I was playing somewhere else, but now we have really arrived in Ingolstadt," he says. Despite his age, Pietta is in top shape and an important team in the team. "I still feel really like ice hockey and want to play for a few more years," he emphasizes. His goal? "Hold up the trophy - that's what drives me."
The Panther are currently in second place in the table behind the Eisbären Berlin. Captain Fabio Wagner is optimistic: "We have a broad squad and play fast, aggressive ice hockey. Everything is possible." After each victory there is a popular song in the cabin, and the team hopes for the master dance next year.
