Pizza hat leaves Garmisch: What does that mean for Marienplatz?
Pizza hat leaves Garmisch: What does that mean for Marienplatz?
Marienplatz, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Deutschland - A sudden end after 36 years! Garmisch-Partenkirchen has to say goodbye to one of its most famous fast food locations. Pizza hat, which has long been part of the city's inventory, secretly packed the suitcases and moved out of the salmon -colored house on Marienplatz. After decades in the service of hungry guests, the striking Bürgersteig signs and the familiar smell cloud of freshly baked pizza dough are history.
The nationwide fast food giant, which had had a permanent place in the heart of Garmisch-Partenkirchen since 1988, left the citizens in the dark. Not a big farewell, no ceremony - instead a small, simple paper on the former front door with the words: "Changes are part of life". The confusion and questions remain, because those responsible for Pizza Hut in Berlin cannot be reached to explain the reasons for this sudden retreat.
official requirements and renovation needs
The causes of the withdrawal seem to be clear: the commercial supervisory office and district authorities already announced the urgent need for renovation work in 2023, especially in the kitchen area. After the first sign of the willingness to renovate, the sheet turned and the operators took their hat off instead before the restaurant permit ran.
The history of Marienplatz was so far characterized by international fast food chains. The first restaurant, Wendy’s, was already located in 1982. Now a small tradition could come to an end with the departure of Pizza Hut. The future of the salmon -colored house remains uncertain, but interest is still great. Owner Hanns Oestreicher has already received numerous inquiries from potential new tenants - the coveted location on Marienplatz calls for new possibilities!
