Fürth shines new: 11,500 LED lamps for more security and environment!
Fürth, Deutschland - FÜRTH - a radiant new chapter for the city! A few days ago, the Infra Fürth completed the complete conversion of the street lighting. Over 11,500 light points now illuminate the city with energy-efficient LED lights-the outdated sodium steam high pressure lights are finally history!
This impressive change lifts Fürth to the top of Bavaria! Mayor Thomas Jung raves about the energy saving, which was reduced by breathtaking 54 percent compared to 2019. The electricity consumption is currently around 1.45 million kilowatt hours (kWh). And the best thing about it? Over 500 tons of CO2 are saved annually. In addition, the new, warm white light offers a positive effect on insect and species protection- a real profit for our environment!
bright prospects for the future
The new LED lights are not only good for nature, they are also durable! With a lifespan of around 24 years, the maintenance intervals are significantly reduced. Mayor Jung emphasizes that the investment costs of around 1.4 million euros will quickly pay for itself. And that's not all: the lighter lighting ensures more security on the streets and paths, which is of enormous importance for the citizens of Fürth, as Infra Managing Director Marcus Steurer emphasizes.
But that's not the end of the story! Around 70 percent of the foot and cycle paths are already equipped with intelligent, movement-controlled lamps. Soon the riparian promenade will shine in a new light. Fürth shows how modern technology and environmental protection can go hand in hand - a bright future for everyone!
