City bike in Freising: Record! 303,981 km for climate protection!

In Freising, the pedals will be put strongly this year! During the city bike in summer, all Freising, whether young or old, had the opportunity to count their kilometers and show how important the bike is as a means of transportation in the city. In particular, the focus is on school cycling, which schools offer their own category to promote competition among the students.

A total of 1,555 participants have covered an incredible 303,981 kilometers and thus set a new record. This impressive performance was achieved by 77 teams, which is also a new high. The city cycling not only was fun, but also contributed to saving around 50 tons of CO2, which underlines the environmentally friendly effort of the participants.

As in previous years, a closing ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the large meeting room of the town hall. Here the most active teams and individuals are honored for their extraordinary achievements. The event is not only a reward for the participants, but also an opportunity to bring the community together and to raise awareness of environmentally friendly locomotion.

In order to make the award ceremony fairer, the city of Freising has distributed prices depending on the group size this year. Depending on the team size, the participants can expect attractive prices, including the free use of the urban cargo rental system, vouchers for ice cream, coffee, chocolates and workshops for cycling repairs. Special pleasure vouchers for restaurant visits and other offers from the active City Freising complete the prices. The Agenda-21 group "Building, living and transport" will again donate the prize money for school cycling this year.

After the participants are honored, there will be the opportunity to watch the film "Better world than ever" together. In this inspiring film, the then 24-year-old Dennis Kailing circled the earth within two years without much preparation. An exciting conclusion for a successful city cycling! Drinks are also taken care of, so that everyone present can end the evening relaxed.
