Radstrip in Freising: Court stops controversial traffic project
Excitement in Freising: The administrative court has decided to reduce the controversial bicycle protection strips on Erdinger and Gutener-Straße! What was introduced as a welcome measure to improve the cycle path situation a few months ago now ensures massive discussions and will soon be a thing of the past. The city reacts promptly to the judgment and pulls the ripcord.
started in June 2024, the yellow markings quickly became a point of dispute. The critics - especially local companies and local residents - put vehemently pressure and saw a threat to their business and parking in the new bike strips. The judge Dr. Matthias Prinzler now attracted attention to the concerns he took at a negotiation: "The traffic attempts must be ended by December 31." The court thus wanted to offer a comparison to avoid further disputes.
city leans into the court ruling
The city of Freising immediately approved the court's proposal! Head of Office Rupert Widmann confirmed that the city accepted the decision and that no further discussions in the city council were necessary. The yellow markings will remain before they are removed by the end of the year. But not everyone agrees with the development: Emilia Kirner, city councilor tireless fighter for the cyclists, is disappointed with the court ruling. "The importance of bicycle traffic in Lerchenfeld was not adequately recognized," she complains.
Positive can still recognize Kirner in the situation: "We hope that permanent and better solutions for the safety of cyclists will be developed in the future." While supporters of the wheel strip called for the increase in security for cyclists, residents and companies continue to feel over. The conflict over the yellow markings in Freising remains a hot iron.
