Garbage fees increase by 35%: What this means for Weilheim families

Weilheim-Schongau, Deutschland - alarm mood in the district of Weilheim-Schongau! From January 2025 it will be significantly more expensive for citizens: the garbage fees increase on average by a whopping 35 percent. The district council unanimously made this radical decision and causes excitement among the residents. The discussion about the waste disposal costs had already been hot in the preparation, but now the final decision has been made!

But not only the increased fee is a hot iron. Peter Erhard von der CSU/Böbing tries to smooth the waves and explains: "35 percent sounds a lot, but only makes up for about four euros more a month for a family of four!" He thus represents the increase as almost portable - after all, this is only the price for half a box of cigarettes! Despite the increase, which is considered inevitable to work in cost, the fees remain at the level of 2008 and remain favorable compared to neighboring circles, as deputy district treasurer Matthias Brugger emphasizes.

cost overview and contractual issues

not to be underestimated is also the cooperation with the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district. The disposal company Eva remains a central player by handling the residual waste of the Tölzer district, while conversely the organic waste is taken over by Weilheim-Schongau. Manuel Neulinger from the Greens asks critical questions about the cost situation of this cooperation and whether independent disposal may be cheaper. Eva boss Holger Poczka gives these concerns a clear rejection: "Sharing the tasks creates larger quantities, and the costs decrease," he explains and emphasizes that a separate disposal company could hardly be realized.
