Crisis at high schools: Teachers urgently call for youth social work!
The perfect world of high schools in the Freising district is in danger! Manfred Röder, the director of the cathedral high school, urges urgently: psychological abnormalities among students are increasing, and the call for youth social work is getting louder. But the hope for additional social educators is damped, because the district council rejects the places. Instead, the administration should develop a cost -neutral proposal to use the existing pool to employees for schools.
The urgent need for youth social work became clear at a headmaster conference last year. Bullying, exclusion and even physical violence among the students are alarming problems that are reinforced by tensions in the parents' house. Claudia Theumer, head of the Moosburg high school, makes it clear that teachers are not social workers and cannot cope with the growing challenges alone. The situation escalates and many students skip school due to fear and adaptation difficulties.
economic hurdles and creative solutions
The administration recognizes the need for youth social work at high schools, but the tense budgetary situations do not allow any additional voluntary services. The Free State offers financial support for the employment of full -time power, but the permanent personnel costs also burden the district. However, the school management has found a cost -saving solution: If each of the five high schools could offer youth social work on a weekday, this would not only be household -neutral, but also quickly implemented. The administration is now planning to implement employees on a voluntary basis and will present a corresponding proposal at the meeting of the youth welfare committee on January 30th.
