Eching plans 50 million euros for daycare centers, apartments and more!

In Eching, it is bubbling financially! The municipality faces a huge investment program of over 50 million euros, but the ongoing costs mercilessly eat the income. In 2025, the administrative budget will swell to almost 52 million euros, while the expenses for personnel and levies to the district office are already devouring 70 percent of the budget. Community treasurer Andrea Jensen warns: "Our income is eaten up by the expenditure." An alarming signal for the future of the municipality!

The Situation is explosive: Eching has to use two million euros from the reserves for 2025 to finance ongoing operation. Mayor Sebastian Thaler is concerned, but emphasizes that this should not be the final solution. For 14 years, the municipality has been listing continuous deficits that have to be compensated for by additional income and austerity measures. The trade tax and income tax participation bring income of 15 million and 13.8 million euros, but the rising district levies threaten to further tighten the financial situation.

The big plans for Eching are impressive: a new daycare center in the Eching-West development area, another daycare center in Dietersheim and numerous residential complexes are on the agenda. But in budget 2025 only smaller steps are taken. 750,000 euros are planned for the property purchase of the municipal building yard, while the daycare center has to be postponed to Dietersheim for the time being. The municipality also plans to provide containers as new homeless accommodation because the existing facility has become unusable.

The financial reserves are expected to be used up at the end of 2026, which requires borrowing. Eching currently has around four million euros in debt, which will be reduced to around two million euros by the end of 2026. The challenges are enormous, and the community is at a critical point at which clever decisions are required to secure the future of Eching!
