Wartenberg reduces property tax rate: What does that mean for the owner?

Wartenberg, Deutschland - In Wartenberg, the discussion is boiling about property tax! After intensive debates, the market council unanimously adopted the new “Lifting Satition 2025”. The lifting rates for basic taxes A and B are reduced from 450 to 390 - but that could not necessarily mean savings for the owners! The Bavarian state government urges the municipalities not to make any increases, but reality looks different.

The market town of Wartenberg, which is financially struck, has decided to set the rate higher to secure the income. Around 716,000 euros are currently flowing into the cash registers with a set of 450. With the new set of 390, Wartenberg could even get around 826,000 euros - an increase of 110,000 euros or 15 percent! But the municipal administration warns: "Many explanations are incorrect", and after sending the property tax notices, numerous amendments could be mixed up again.

a compromise with pitfalls

Michael Paulini from the SPD described the decision as a "good compromise", but emphasized that the reduction in the lifting rates was not synonymous with lower payments for the citizens. Mayor Christian Pröbst (CSU) agrees: "Some pay a little more, the others a little less." In the meantime there are reports from the neighboring town of Moosburg, where homeowners now have to pay twice!

The mayor Carla Marx sees the buffer as a clever move: "We prefer to adjust down rather than become negative for everyone." Pröbst expresses concerns that too strong reduction could endanger the entire system. Compared to cities such as Munich, where the rate is 900, Wartenberg remains relatively cheap. "Everyone can afford that," sums up Prossben optimistically.
