Therme Erding sold: What does that mean for the future of the bathrooms?

The world -famous thermaletry Erding has a new owner! The Therme Group, an international company with locations in cities such as Munich, Vienna and New York, has taken over the popular leisure pool. This merger was announced on Monday by Jörg Wund, the previous owner and son of Josef Wund. According to media reports, the sales price should be more than 320 million euros. The thermal bath is the largest of its kind worldwide with its over 185,000 square meters and more than 40 pools, including a huge wave pool, and attracts up to 12,000 guests every day. With the takeover, the new owners want to continue to successfully conduct the thermal baths and secure the workplaces of the approximately 900 employees, such as reports.

family history ends, new era begins

The family Wund, known for their successes in thermal bath, has carried out a drastic cut in their history with this step. Jörg Wund had founded the Therme Erding 25 years ago with his late father, Josef Wund. After the tragic death of Josef Wunder in a plane crash in 2017, Jörg Wund took over the guidance of the baths. This family is not only active in Erding, but also in Bad Wörishofen with another large bathroom. Whether this thermal bath was also for sale was denied by Jörg Wund. The Therme Bad Wörishofen remains family-owned, as Augsburger-allgemeine.de

The Therme Group, led by Dr. Robert Hanea, not only plans to operate the Erding thermal baths, but also the further development and the expansion of the offer. The new partnership has a lot of potential for the future, as the Therme Erding and the Bucharest thermal baths are to attract over 3.5 million visitors in the current year. This means that the future of the leisure pool is populous and promising, despite the change in leadership.
