Moosburg in need: urgent search for new pediatrician!

In Moosburg an der Isar, the situation about the city's only pediatrician practice is tense. The current pediatrician, Olaf Vorbeck, will retire at the end of 2024. The city faces the challenge of finding a suitable successor for the practice that cares for around 5000 patients and is the only one of its kind within a radius of almost 20 kilometers.

In order to promote the successor, the city council has decided to provide 20,000 euros. In addition, the successor receives the complete practical equipment free of charge. This comprehensive equipment includes EDP, Sono, Sehr-Listen test devices, EKG, washing machine, dryer, otoscopes, telephone system and a medication refrigerator.

Despite an intensive advertising campaign, which includes Instagram videos with over one million calls, no successor has so far been found. Parents are forced to travel to Freising, Erding or Landshut for pediatric medical treatments. The mayor of Moosburg, Josef Dollinger, confirmed that the city of Vorbeck would support in the search for succession, could not call any specific measures at the present time.

The city also expects an influx and an increasing birth rate, which could further tighten the problem of medical care in the future. Verena Beibl, City Councilor of the Greens, addressed the difficulties in the city council and said that without successors, specialist care for the Moosburg parents could be difficult. A prospect has already visited the practice, but there is still no official promise.

The city has had discussions with the Vorbeck family and developed a corresponding support program. In order not to have to repay the funding, the successor must continue the practice for at least five years. The current offer to take over the practical equipment only applies for a few months, since the landlord remains the premises until the end of March.

In surrounding cities, some pediatricians already have admission stops due to their high demand. The situation in Moosburg therefore remains worrying, and it remains to be seen how the city and the Vorbeck family will master the challenges together.
