Hospital reform: Geriatrics moves from Dorfen to Erding!

Dorfen, Deutschland - A dramatic change is imminent! The geriatric department of the district of Erding Clinic will be moved from Dorfen to Erding in 2025. This decision, which is implemented in the first quarter, is a direct result of the upcoming hospital reform. The restructuring is necessary to meet new billing modalities. Those responsible for the district office have made it clear that age -having aatological services can only be performed and billed if the trauma surgery and geriatrics are united under one roof.

The situation is already tense: geriatric commuting several times a week between Dorfen and Erding to ensure the treatment of thigh fractures close to the hip. But that's no longer enough! In the future, the laying of the geriatric department will not only improve treatment, but will also increase the bed capacity from 20 to 30. This is particularly important because the need grows steadily due to demographic development. The relocation will significantly increase the quality of age medical care and complement the internal disciplines in Erding.

But that's not all! At the Dorfen location, medical care does not fall by the wayside. The newly renovated rooms are used for a new pain therapy center. This creates a holistic supply offer that further expands the outpatient and inpatient offers that have already been successfully put together. The pain day clinic is also relocated to Dorfen in order to optimally use synergy effects and to make the Dorfen Clinic Future -proof.

District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer emphasizes: "This measure is only one of many with which we make our clinic fit for the future." The competition between hospitals is becoming increasingly intensive, even across district borders. The merger of the Innkliniken Mühldorf and Altötting shows how important strategic decisions are in health care. The Bavarian Minister of Health Judith Gerlach praises these developments and emphasizes the support of the Free State, which promotes the construction of new general care stations with almost 26 million euros
