An impressive project to promote biological diversity takes shape! The cooperation between agriculture and nature conservation is very important in the municipalities of Buch am Buchrain and Isen. Dr. Franziska Müller-Waldeck, wild living space consultant at the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry (Aelf) Ebersberg-Erding, is enthusiastic: "Success lies in the good coexistence of nature conservation and agriculture and this is very clear here." A 300 meter long wild hedge and a 700 square meter orchard meadow have already been created on the arable land. On November 14, 2024, the planting campaign continues with 34 high trunks of old fruit and wild fruit varieties, and that by committed students from the Erding Agricultural School!
a strong team for nature
The campaign, which is carried out in cooperation with the Erding district group of the State Association for Vogel and Nature Conservation Bayern e.V. (LBV), is a prime example of successful cooperation. Uschi Schmidt-Hoensdorf, the chairwoman of the LBV district group Erding, will support the prospective operations managers during planting. "The orchard planting is only the start," she emphasizes. Further measures are planned on the two hectare meadow, including wild hedges, flower strips and even a small body of water. Monitoring will document the progress and record the effects on the local biodiversity.
The Erding Agriculture School plays a central role in the implementation of these measures. Headmaster Dr. Josef Schächtl emphasizes that the promotion of biodiversity is not only treated theoretically, but is also tackled in a practical way. "Sustainable production processes that also correspond to the economic interests of the companies are essential for long -term land use," said Schächtl. This initiative shows how agriculture and nature conservation can work hand in hand - a step in the right direction for our environment!
