Bavaria's state government scolds: BUND lets flood victims down!
Reichertshofen, Deutschland - The Bavarian state government is in turmoil! After the devastating flood in June, the federal government is accused of letting those affected down. State Chancellor Florian Herrmann (CSU) commented on Tuesday after the cabinet and noticed that the promises of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens) were "nothing but empty words". Herrmann criticized the statements of the two, who had promised a lot when visiting the crisis area in Swabia "in rubber boots", but could not offer any specific solutions.
Basically, the countries are responsible for the flood damage, but if there is a disaster of national dimensions, the federal government must step in. "No national catastrophe here is malicious," says Herrmann. Bavaria expects the federal government to adapt the purpose of the flood aid fund to also cover current damage in Bavaria. However, the Federal Ministry of Finance has so far stiffened to the national dimension of the problem. Herrmann emphasizes that Bavaria will pay over a billion euros in this fund by 2050 - and expects a fair reimbursement.
