Mayor hiking cup: 144 shooters celebrate tradition and fairness!

A top -class shooting competition! 144 participants gathered at the 50th mayor hiking cup shooting in the Gasthaus Hager, organized by the Sommershausen solar shooters. Among the shooters were 51 students and young people who fought enthusiastically for the coveted prizes. District Administrator Werner Bumeder praised the clubs for their commitment in this tradition, which remains alive despite falling number of participants.

The award ceremony was a festival of fairness and sport. Mayor Rolf-Peter Holzleitner emphasized the Olympic thoughts and the desire to carry this tradition into the future. Minister of State a. D. Erwin Huber recalled the founding of the competition by Jakob Stünzer, who wanted to strengthen the community. What once started as a sociable get -together has developed into a serious sport.

The evergreen shooters Griesbach triumphed with 1430 rings in the team ranking, followed by Eichenlaub Failnbach and Vilstaler Oberhausen. The best shooters of each team were awarded wine bottles, including Karl Bielmeier from Immergrün with 186 rings. The Vilstaler Oberhausen association provided the most participants with 49 active people, followed by evergreen and oak leaves.
