Dachauer Wahlchaos: Only 20 out of 24 judges nominated - what now?

Dachau, Deutschland - After an intensive election marathon, the Dachau district council delivered a highly competitive result. After a total of eight elections, the district administration sent the Munich Administrative Court with only 20 nominations for the volunteer judges. It was originally required 24 - now it remains to be seen whether this is accepted by the court. The deadline for the submission had been extended until October 29, but the committee continued to fight with internal differences, even when the candidate age and professions were passed on.

The turbulent selection of the candidates

The choice was canceled before the summer vacation due to a lack of support for the required 24 people. Only 18 out of 30 proposals received the necessary approval of the approximately 70 council members. On Friday, the committee decided to send the list with only 20 suggestions to the court. Even the latest efforts to find the missing candidates were unsuccessful: two more election processes did not lead to anything. Among the nominees can be found names like Gerhard Hainzinger and Richard Lehmann.

dispute over AfD nominations

The withdrawal of the AfD nominations is particularly explosive only days before the election. The party's responsible press office explains that it is not unusual if the required number of people are not reached. The resignation of two candidates causes a sensation because they had received more votes in the previous elections than the AfD seats in the district council. The reason for the withdrawal remains nebulous, and both the parliamentary chairperson Stauch and District Administrator Stefan Löwl (CSU) did not comment on this. However, the note from the AfD press office was that the list of a list of 20 people was sufficiently sufficient, which takes the pressure from local politicians.
