Pure adventure: 70-year-old Lauterbacher cycles to the Black Sea!
Lauterbach, Deutschland - A 70-year-old adventurer, Mauro Manfinato, embarked on an amazing journey that led him to the Black Sea-alone, with only one tent and a sleeping bag. After 3212 kilometers, five weeks and incredible 16 breakdowns with flat tires, the Lauterbacher has reached its destination. This epic bike tour extended over eight countries, countless challenges and unforgettable experiences.
in the middle of the Serbian landscape, at a point about 1400 kilometers before his destination, Manfinato fought sudden stomach pain and dizziness. "At that moment, every idea of giving up has evaporated," he assured, while working on his patching bike. The owner of the Vespa shop in Dachau said that during this trip he not only wanted to test his physical limits, but also thought about life. He describes travel as a kind of meditation: "I was quite burned out at the time and felt like I was missing life."
a life full of adventure
Mauro Manfinato started his adventure in Donaueschingen in August, without extensive route planning. "I was completely without route planning up to Belgrade," he reported. Spontaneous decisions determined his way, and his only requirement was to drive between 50 and 100 kilometers a day. In Romania, standing at dusk, he found a quiet place to sleep directly on the Danube thanks to a friendly locals - again and again it proved that happiness was at his side.
Freedom and the unexplored nature that he crossed, made everything else forgotten and felt it truly happy. Although he initially hesitated to take such a strenuous journey again, he is now ready to plan new adventures. Mauro Manfrinato not only explored his physical and mental borders, but also rediscovered the desire to travel to his homeland to his homeland in Italy. His adventure will certainly not have been the last one!
