Coburg's roofs in change: Citizens' workshop on solar energy starts!
Kongresshaus Coburg, 96450 Coburg, Deutschland - A look from the Veste Coburg reveals an impressive backdrop of historical roofs that shape the cityscape. But this beauty brings with it a challenge: the installation of photovoltaic systems on listed buildings is almost impossible in Coburg. But that could change soon! Together with the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and the expert Prof. Georg Sahner, the city of Coburg has committed itself to developing an innovative concept for the integration of solar energy in the historical city center.
On Friday, November 22, 2024, an exciting citizens' workshop takes place in the Congresshaus Coburg that invites citizens to bring their ideas on the compatibility of monument protection and renewable energies. From 2 to 7 p.m. Prof. Georg Sahner will inform the participants about the current status of the municipal monument concept. Then those present are divided into groups in order to discuss central questions together, such as: Which buildings are the cityscape? Where could photovoltaics be integrated sensibly? And which other forms of renewable energies are conceivable in the old town ensemble?
invitation to participate
The city of Coburg is one of the Bavarian pilot cities for the monument -friendly expansion of solar energy, and the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments supports the project with around 80 percent of the costs. Citizens can actively participate in planning and express their opinions on the most important buildings and possible locations for photovoltaic systems. Registration for the workshop is possible until Monday, November 18, 2024, via the website www.coburg.de/denkmal concept. Take the chance to help shape the future of your city!
