New Unimog strengthens the Marktschellenberg fire brigade for demanding missions

The Marktschellenberg volunteer fire brigade has opened a new chapter! On the occasion of its 150th anniversary, an Unimog U 327 with Lentner structure was put into operation. This modern tank fire engine (TLF 2000) replaces an emergency vehicle over 35 years old and is intended to support the fire brigade in its challenging operations in the mountainous region of the northern Alps. The Unimog, known for its suitability for terrain, is indispensable for the fire brigade to effectively master the difficult topography.

The vehicle, which is characterized by flexibility and robustness, is used both as a tank fire engine and as a device carrier. This ensures that the Marktschellenberg fire brigade can surgery operate safely even in rough terrains. The role of the Unimog in forest fire protection is particularly important. Since the area of application is heavily forested, the Unimog is a decisive factor in the fight against increasingly frequent forest fires in the region.

funding facilitates the purchase

The financial burden of the municipality was reduced by funding from the Free State of Bavaria and by supporting the Berchtesgadener Land district. The district assumed half of the remaining costs, which made it easier to purchase the new emergency vehicle.

Technically, the new Unimog U 327 convinces with impressive data: With a wheelbase of 3,150 mm and a ground clearance of 383 mm, it weighs a permissible total weight of up to 14 tons. The vehicle is powered by a powerful 272 hp (OM936 engine) with all -wheel drive and differential locks, which makes it ideal for the challenges of the fire brigade.

In addition to the technical equipment, the newly installed spray bar protects both the vehicle and the emergency services during fire inserts, which makes the Unimog a particularly valuable part of the equipment. In difficult conditions, it can intervene immediately to combat fires at an early stage.

With this investment in modern technology, the volunteer fire brigade Marktschellenberg is not only a future -proof, but also shows that it is ready to counter the challenges of disaster protection in the coming years. The new Unimog not only symbolizes progress, but also the commitment of the fire brigade, which has been an indispensable pillar of security in the region for a century. It remains to be hoped that this new vehicle will successfully work and that the many volunteers will continue to do their best to protect the community.
