In a gripping engagement for the reading performance of primary school children, volunteer reading sponsors in the Berchtesgadener Land are committed to promoting young readers. The volunteers support teachers in German in order to help the little ones learn reading skills. In the event of a recent training of the volunteer agency, the reading sponsors received valuable insights into the curriculum and practical tips that help you maximize your valuable influence.

The primary school teachers Ulrike Schmid and Miriam Schwarz emphasized the urgency in their training to focus on reading again. "According to the PISA study, the reading skills of the German students deteriorated," said Schmid. Reading becomes a “top priority”, and special programs such as “Filby reading training” are crucial to improve the reading skills of the students. Reading sponsors are essential here because they can offer individual support that is tailored to the different knowledge of the children.

The training provided a comprehensive overview of the materials that teachers use and that can also use reading sponsors. Panel tables, special exercises, reading-paint leaves and reading track stories are just a few of many creative possibilities that support the reading process. The event rounded off an extensive book table with literature ideas and showed the variety of resources that are available.

As a sign of appreciation, the reading sponsors received a rose at the end of the training that symbolizes its important role in everyday school life.
