Fire brigade in Bergen fights for aerial ladder: security on the brink!
In a dramatic step, the commanders of the Bergen fire brigade laid down their offices! The decision comes after years of heated discussions about the inadequate equipment of the fire brigade, in particular the lack of aerial ladder, which is of crucial importance for the safety of citizens. Tobias Schwaiger, the resigned commander, made it unequivocally clear: "We cannot do justice to this responsibility!"
The Situation is alarming! There are numerous residential buildings in the community that cannot be reached with conventional rescue agents. Schwaiger warned urgently: "When it comes to human life and every second counts, the nearest vehicles from Siegsdorf, Grassau or Traunstein are just too slow!" The fire brigade sees itself as a duty to be able to help even in critical moments, but without the necessary equipment, this remains an unfulfilled wish. The municipality has provided a trailer ladder, but this no longer corresponds to the state of the art and is ineffective. "With this type of rescue device you can hardly save people," says Michael Freitmiedl, another affected firefighter.
lack of support and ignorance
Frustration among the firefighters is growing! The municipal accident insurance association Bavaria criticized the decision of the municipality of Scharf: "It is incomprehensible to provide an outdated rescue device!" In addition, the maximum load capacity of the trailer ladder has already been exceeded, which endangers the safety of the emergency services. In the meantime, the IBG planning office from Heilsbronn sees no need for a turntable ladder and instead recommends a sliding ladder. Schwaiger is indignant about the ignorance of the community: "We were not heard during the creation of the fire service requirement plan!"
However, the problems go beyond the aerial ladder. The fire brigade has been calling for a defective smoke deduction in the fire station for ten years, but the municipality does not comply with its annual obligation to check. "We do not understand why this safety facility is not repaired," continued Schwaiger. The resignations of the commanders throw a bright light on the grievances in the fire brigade and the insufficient support from the community. The situation remains tense and the citizens can only hope that something will change soon!
